Nathan

Nathan is almost seven months old now! At his six month check-up two weeks ago, he was only 16 lbs 5 oz and 26 inches long. Those measurements weren't much different than his measurements at 4 months old. The pediatrician was concerned about that, so she ordered some bloodwork. So after seeing the M.D. and getting shots, we had to go down to the lab. Several lab techs (3) tried to draw blood from Nathan's arms, but they weren't able to get any as they couldn't find his veins. I think he must be plagued with my veins, as they always have a difficult time giving me IV's or getting blood. We had to return 2 days later to try again; this time they did a heel stick and got as much blood as they could that way.
The results from all of the tests are back except for the celiac test, which had to be sent off. All of the other tests were normal. I'm hoping at his follow-up appointment in February that he's gained more weight. He's been eating baby food 3 times a day for two weeks now, and he's still nursing 6 times a day. I think their are several reasons why he may not have gained weight. I think I just lost some more weight and was working out harder and maybe not eating enough, plus trying to wean Nathan off of the night feedings. Regardless he is a happy, healthy child.
That is until yesterday when he started having a cough and today he has a fever (101-102). Russell must have given him his cold. I just hope Nathan is able to fight it off without it turning into something worse or a secondary infection.
